In the first violent clash in fifty years, Auxientian forces engaged beyonders in a minor skirmish along the Western Walls. Two Auxientians and five beyonders were slain in the fighting.
The conflict broke out on Wednesday morning when Parastin scouts at the Western Wall reported a beyonder patrol moving close to an old patch of wall in disrepair, damaged heavily in the fighting in the Six-Year Siege that threatened Auxientia’s western territory. The Parastin Order reported the incident via telegraph, and Luciole air transports arrived soon after with Auxientian Armed Forces and a scout ship, which surveyed the area for additional beyonders, but the force appeared to be restricted to only fifty scouts.
The AAF officially enlisted Parastin aid, and the combined force entered the narrow pass by the old wall from either side, trapping the beyonder force within. According to reports close to the fighting, the beyonder patrol declined parley and responded to any and all attempts to communicate with force.
Considering diplomatic ramifications, AAF Commander Olik Antipas opted to remove the Auxientian flanking force and allow the beyonders to escape with the knowledge that the old wall was watched and that the beyonders would have no success attempting to breach it. Word would reach their homeland and end beyonder attacks for the foreseeable future. Furthermore, a peace might still be preserved.
“The beyonders want war no more than we do,” Antipas stated before a joint coalition of The Gilded lawmakers, Bāhira leaders, Luciole executives, Parastin protectors, and the heads of Auxientia’s unions and trades.
Auxientian forces allowed the beyonders to depart, but each side took casualties in the fighting.
The Western border remains a bone of contention with Auxientians and the people beyond the valley of Mutu.
AAF officers declined to comment on the possibility of beyonders breaking the wall or instigating a second Six-Year Siege.
