The golden wyvern statue that welcomed patrons to the Gilded Wyvern Tavern in Duhura Market has been returned after disappearing early last week. The statue – affectionately called Gordon by both patrons and staff – was located in the courtyard Auxientius’ Academy for Young Adults. The school groundskeeper discovered the statue hidden between the courtyard wall and a tall shrubbery, with a uniform jacket and scarf draped around its shoulders.
Academy President Adrianna Belleview says that the culprits have been identified and confessed to stealing the statue as a “senior prank” before graduating in the spring. “We extend our deepest apologies to The Gilded Wyvern for this unfortunate example of youthful indiscretion,” said President Belleview. “The students at fault have been disciplined accordingly.”
Albert Wainwight, owner of the Gilded Wyvern, says he’s just happy to have Gordon back. “Kids will be kids!” he said with a laugh. “I’m more impressed than anything. Making off with a five-foot tall golden statue, in the middle of the city’s busiest district, with no witnesses? That’s talent!” Mr. Wainwright added that there are plenty of job opportunities for individuals with those skills, and he would be happy to write them a letter of recommendation should any of the students involved need work after graduation.
