Fifteen years ago . . . A great fire starts in the Dunmeadow slums and rages throughout the poorer neighborhoods before stretching throughout the city, leaving a trail of death and destruction. Several accusations surround the cause of the fire and why it burned so long. A city fire brigade was created in the aftermath.
Fifty years ago . . . The Gilded and Irregulars successfully lobby two other factions for a law to “regulate and defang” Parastin patrols within the city, formally forcing the Order to the border walls to protect against beyonders. The sudden upheaval necessitated the creation of the first Auxientia police. Auxientia’s first Police Chief, Simone Striker was later quoted as saying, “This city needs law and order, not vigilantes acting with impunity.” A Parastin representative quipped, “Now those Gilded and Irregs have a group of thugs with cheap, copper badges in their pocket. We couldn’t be bought. We still can’t. We wish the city luck. You’ll need it.”
One Hundred years ago … Luciole Ltd. CEO, Gaius Vern announces an initiative to end the city’s dependence on lumenstones and replace magical power with steam and something called “electric power.” In a swift retaliation, Bāhira leadership halts lumenstone mining, causing power shortages throughout the city.
